Hello! Edmonton Newborn and Family Photographer | Pause Photography

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Rona-Marie Harvey, and I hope this is a place where you can get to know me.

Since the birth of my daughter in early 2012, I have been focusing on family portraits, lifestyle sessions and newborn photography. It's nice to always have access to a willing model at home!

When not making portraits, I also work as a graphic designer. I love having family time at home with my husband, daughter and son. Coffee, walks, going to the playground with the kids and anything chocolate are things I enjoy on a daily basis.

If you'd like to connect with me, feel free to drop me a line at any time.

Thanks to Jaleen Lessard from Sweet Life Photography for my portrait with Parker.

I couldn’t be happier with how my Themed Mini-Session set came together! I had my 2 year-old son come out and help me set it up on his sister’s first morning of Kindergarten — I thought we would both need to keep a little extra busy that morning. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you may have already seen the set, but if you haven’t yet… well, you’re in for a treat!

For those who know me, you know I have a soft spot for anything vintage, so it was hardly unexpected when I chose to create a set with a vintage feel to it. The only thing missing from the below images are the apples and perhaps a pumpkin or two I’ll be adding.

My Mini-Sessions always sell out fast, so don’t wait to reserve your spot or get in touch with any questions you may have. Give me a call 780-235-7955 or send me an email. I can’t wait to photograph you and your family in this gorgeous set!

I was excited when Natalie’s mum and dad contacted me about setting up a newborn session for when she would be born. I had photographed her big brother 3 years ago when he was first born. That’s one of the best things about being a newborn photographer in Edmonton — I get to see families grow‚ and firstborns become big brothers and sisters.

Getting big brother and new baby sister together for a portrait was no easy task though, and I actually ended up compositing this one together. What’s that saying… if at first you don’t succeed‚ Photoshop! I do my best to get everything just right as I’m taking the pictures‚ but keeping the littles happy is more important.

Documenting my children in their every day activities is something I need to do more often. I love looking back through these images and seeing them as they really are – totally engrossed in finding ants, breaking sticks, digging in the dirt and being just plain silly. They don’t give me long, as they would prefer if I played “real” games with them instead of chasing them around with a camera in hand.

They are usually the first ones I practice new techniques on. In a few of the images below, I broke away from perfectly sharp and focused images for some slightly whimsical and artistic images with some tilt shift – I love how it turned out! These are the pictures I’ll treasure as our family grows older. The ones that show a little behind the scenes of our lives together.

I am planning on making the most of our next few weeks together. In September, my daughter starts Kindergarten. This mama is having a hard time coming to terms with that. I’m sure I’ll be pulling out pictures of her to look at while she’s away in school. Any other mamas out there sending their littles off to school for the first time? How are you managing with the upcoming transition? I feel my babies are growing up just a little too fast for me. The days are passing us by at whirlwind speed.

Oh my gosh, how did I not blog this earlier? If you are on my email list (if you’re not, visit my main website, wait for the popup, then enter your info), you should have seen an email land in your inbox letting you know about my referral program, and how you can even earn your next portrait session on me, just by referring your friends! You can check out the email if you like, but here is all you need to know:

When you refer a friend, you get to give them a $25 gift towards custom photography, and you get a $50 credit to put towards your next session. Refer 5 friends, and get your next portrait session on me! If you’d like to give your friends something tangible, let me know and I’ll get as many cards ready for you as you need. Otherwise, just have them tell me that they heard of me through you, and I’ll automatically credit both of your accounts.

The small print: Credits are applied once session is booked and confirmed. Credits are not valid if session cancels.

That’s it! It’s never been easier to get a complementary portrait session with me. I can’t wait to photograph you and your friends. Get in touch with me to book your next portrait session, or to ask any questions you might have.

I have had the pleasure of providing this family with updated portraits for the past three years — they’re one of the reasons I look forward to the fall! It’s hard to say what makes me happier — seeing their family growing together (especially little Max), or hearing about their yearly photos framed together in their home. Max and my daughter are both the same age, so I feel like I have almost seen them grow up together. Every year, Max has brought his favourite wagon with him and we’ve incorporated it in every portrait session. The wagon seemed a little smaller this year… and was it just my imagination, or did I have to hustle a little more to keep up with him?

I have all sorts of love for this cutie’s newborn baby pictures. And that new baby smell (swoon)! Paige brought her big sisters along for a few of the pictures, too. They both agreed that having a new baby to help take care of was pretty great. I still get warm fuzzes looking at Paige’s pictures with her Mum and Dad — I can just feel the love they have for her.

Sarah and Ryan won a mini-session with me through a Facebook giveaway I ran (if you don’t follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram yet, click the links to be up-to-date with behind the scenes photos, giveaways, some more frequent and sometimes personal updates as well as links to things in the community that matter to me and the families I serve).

I couldn’t get enough of little Asher’s cheeks! I just wanted to scoop him up kiss them. Self-control is such a hard thing sometimes. I should really add these to my Pinterest page. I bet this adorable family would get repined all over the place. ‘Cause they’re that cute.

Edmonton Family Portrait Photographer,

Jumping back in time again for Tina, Alex and their little family’s portrait session last fall! Tina found me through an online search (thanks, Google!) and booked her family pictures for the fall in the Edmonton River Valley. What a gorgeous backdrop! The weather was so unpredictable. It rained, hailed and then the sun came back out at just the right time. Maybe that’s why the light is so pretty.

Big sister had nothing but love for her baby brother. She was great at helping him sit up for their portrait together. Families like these are the reason I love what I do. I am thankful every day for the unique, happy and positive people that come my way through what I do.

As we officially welcomed the first day of summer this week, I thought it’s as good a time as any to go back in time to a sunny and colourful day last fall with this family. I first met Katrina through my mum’s group when we were both navigating all the unknowns of life as a new mum with our first babies. So many changes in just a few short years! Katrina and Joel welcomed their newest addition, a beautiful little girl, to their family a few weeks before we met for family pictures in the Edmonton River Valley.

The two big brothers were so much fun to photograph, and seemed to enjoy the running and jumping and hugging I asked them to do.

I’m so glad I was able to provide Katrina and Joel with some beautiful prints to add to their family gallery wall as their family grows. I’m looking forward to marking more milestones with this fun family through more portrait sessions in the future.

I am so excited to add this gorgeous vintage frame set to my framing choices (I have always been a bit of a sucker for anything vintage). They complement each other beautifully in this new wall gallery arrangement, too! Can’t you just see your own portraits displayed on your walls at home in these? I can’t wait to help you decorate your home with images of those you love.
