Hello! Edmonton Newborn and Family Photographer | Pause Photography

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Rona-Marie Harvey, and I hope this is a place where you can get to know me.

Since the birth of my daughter in early 2012, I have been focusing on family portraits, lifestyle sessions and newborn photography. It's nice to always have access to a willing model at home!

When not making portraits, I also work as a graphic designer. I love having family time at home with my husband, daughter and son. Coffee, walks, going to the playground with the kids and anything chocolate are things I enjoy on a daily basis.

If you'd like to connect with me, feel free to drop me a line at any time.

Thanks to Jaleen Lessard from Sweet Life Photography for my portrait with Parker.

I first met Maggie a few months back when I was preparing for my Making Memories of Motherhood portrait event with Cameron Homes here in Edmonton. Maggie is the area sales manager for Cameron Homes in Keswick on the River. Maggie and I hit it off right away. Her infectious laugh makes it so you can’t help but laugh along with her. She’s the kind of person you’d want to go out for a drink after work with. In addition to her work with Cameron Homes, she volunteers with the Beaumont Blues and Roots Festival (Serena Ryder is going to be there this year, along with a great line up of other musicians).

I loved working with Maggie on her Branding Session. She wanted something that she could use for her work with both Cameron Homes and her volunteer work with the Blues and Roots Festival.

Brandy and I first met a few years ago at a playground, when my daughter, Parker, was just toddling around. Parker and Julian played, and Brandy and I ended up exchanging numbers. We’ve been good friends ever since. I’m thankful every day for the good, caring people like Brandy who are in my life and in the lives of my family.

When Brandy asked me to photograph Julian and her together for the holidays, I was ecstatic! There’s little more that I love than a cozy in-home portrait, combined with a Christmas tree, decorations and the antics of a certain little someone. I have so much love for these two.

So now that it’s getting close to half-way through November, I think it’s okay to start decorating (or at least planning decorations!) for the holidays. It’s one of my favourite times of year.

If you’re thinking of family pictures this holiday season, get in touch with me and we can plan a custom portrait experience for you and yours and we’ll capture those cozy holiday feels for you to relive all year ’round.

If you’re in the holiday spirit, 10 comments and/or social shares of this post will get Brandy and Julian a shiny new 8×10″ print from their session. Spread the love.

Oh my gosh, how did I not blog this earlier? If you are on my email list (if you’re not, visit my main website, wait for the popup, then enter your info), you should have seen an email land in your inbox letting you know about my referral program, and how you can even earn your next portrait session on me, just by referring your friends! Here is what you need to know:

When you refer a friend, you get to give them a $50 gift towards custom photography, and you get a $100 credit to put towards your next session. Refer 5 friends, and get your next portrait session on me! If you’d like to give your friends something tangible, let me know and I’ll get as many cards ready for you as you need. Otherwise, just have them tell me that they heard of me through you, and I’ll automatically credit both of your accounts.

The small print: Credits are applied once session is booked and confirmed. Credits are not valid if session cancels.

That’s it! It’s never been easier to get a complementary portrait session with me. I can’t wait to photograph you and your friends. Get in touch with me to book your next portrait session, or to ask any questions you might have.

I have all sorts of love for this cutie’s newborn baby pictures. And that new baby smell (swoon)! Paige brought her big sisters along for a few of the pictures, too. They both agreed that having a new baby to help take care of was pretty great. I still get warm fuzzes looking at Paige’s pictures with her Mum and Dad — I can just feel the love they have for her.

I can’t believe the time has already come to see little Marley graduate from my Baby Steps program (baby’s first year of portrait sessions packages). It really does seem like just yesterday that I met her as a little newborn when she and her parents first visited me. Marley, you’ve grown into such a beautiful little toddler now, and I hope to keep photographing you and your family as you grow throughout the coming years. You can see more of Marley in her newborn session, 3 month session and 6 month session blog posts.

I had been looking forward to photographing this little one ever since her parents booked her newborn session with me several months previous — my first spring baby girl! It was an extra treat since I got to use a new spring bonnet and leggings set that I recently purchased after collaborating with baby Kyla’s mama.

I photographed mama, daddy, and their furry four-legged babies during last fall’s mini-sessions, which was just in time for them to incorporate a fun pregnancy announcement photo, which I just had to include here.

Mama and dada brought along their own aviator cap for her to model during her newborn pictures, which was fitting, since her daddy is a pilot. I love it when parents bring in something that’s a little extra special or has personal meaning for them.

This little man was anxious for his debut photo shoot, and arrived two weeks early! Being such a handsome little guy, he was a dream to photograph; he even slept through prop changes.

Listening to his daddy talk about him, I could just hear how proud he was of his little baby boy. Mama seemed completely at ease with him, even with this being their first baby and he was just 10 days old (I remember with my first baby, I still felt a little nervous and didn’t quite know what to do with her when she was that young).

Little Chael, I hope to photograph you again soon — it’s amazing how quickly these little babies grow up.

I got to know Amanda in my book club (if you’re looking for a new book to read, I can probably give you a few recommendations now!). When she asked me if I could photographer her family in their home before Christmas, of course I said “yes!”. I think my favourite part of their session had to be her two little girls — they are just so cute! I really enjoyed the chance to get to know Amanda a little more outside of book club, and was happy to have the chance to meet her family.Family PortraitsSisters

Even at three weeks old, sweet Marley was still just a wee little thing when she came in for her newborn session. Her mama had been referred to me by one of her long-time friends who happens to be in my mum’s group. I was so pleased I was able to accommodate this new family in their search for someone to capture their precious first few weeks, all the way through their first year together.

It always melts my heart when I get to be a part of those moments where mum and dad are so obviously in awe of this little life in their hands. The way mama soothed baby Marley when she fussed, and the way daddy was so gentle every time he held his baby girl – I know they are going to be fantastic parents.

I am so looking forward to seeing this wee one grow and change throughout the year.
